Aligning Tractor Wheels

To ensure proper wheel alignment during installation, you must follow specific steps.

Employ a specialized wheel alignment machine to measure and adjust the wheel angles precisely.

Check and adjust key angles:

• Camber:  The inward or outward angle of the tire.
• Toe:  The direction the tires are pointing relative to each other.
• Caster:  The angle of the steering pivot as viewed from the side.

Position the vehicle correctly:

• Place the vehicle squarely on the alignment rack.
• Center the front tires on the turning plates.

Install alignment heads:

• Attach alignment heads to the wheel rims or directly to the tires.
• Ensure the alignment heads are level and properly secured.

Compensate for wheel runout:

Roll the vehicle slightly backward and forward to allow the alignment console to adjust for any wheel runout.

Adjust to manufacturer specifications:

• Use the alignment machine's display to compare current readings with the vehicle manufacturer's recommended angles.
• Make necessary adjustments to bring readings within specifications.

Verify alignment settings:

• Double-check that all settings meet the manufacturer's specifications.
• Ensure each wheel is correctly aligned relative to the vehicle's centerline.

Center the steering wheel:

Check that the steering wheel is centered after adjustments.
