Steady, moderate rainfall keeps soil moisture in the root zone, supports germination, and powers photosynthesis, leading to stronger plants and higher yields.

Rainwater also moves nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium into the root zone and can reduce irrigation costs, which improves profitability and soil health over time.

Inadequate rainfall leads to soil drought, shallow roots, and moisture stress, causing wilting, poor pollination, and smaller grains or fruits.

Practices like cover crops, residue cover, drainage, and rainwater harvesting help capture useful rainfall, reduce runoff and erosion, and buffer crops against both dry and wet swings.
