Keeping Your Tractor Radiator From Clogging

A clogged radiator can quickly lead to tractor overheating, especially when mowing or working in dusty, weedy fields.

Here’s how to keep your radiator clear and your tractor running cool:

• Use a Removable Screen: Install a fine mesh screen in front of your radiator to catch debris before it clogs the fins. These screens are easy to clean and protect your cooling system.
• Clean Regularly: Blow out dust and grass with compressed air or a leaf blower-always from the back to the front of the radiator. Avoid water unless absolutely necessary, as it can turn debris into sticky mud.
• Raise Loader Arms: If you have a front loader, keep the arms raised while mowing to reduce debris buildup.
• Watch Your Temperature: Keep an eye on your tractor’s temperature gauge. If it starts climbing, stop and clean the radiator before continuing.
• Daily Checks: Make radiator cleaning part of your daily routine during heavy use to prevent clogs before they start.
