• A thick layer of mulch insulates roots from freezing temperatures.
• Place incandescent Christmas lights or warm water containers under covers to gently raise temperatures.
• Bring potted plants inside or to a sheltered spot and cover them.
• Pick tender vegetables like tomatoes before frost damages them.

By taking these simple steps, you can extend your fall growing season and keep your garden thriving despite the cold.
