Tariffs are impacting the resale value of tractors in several ways.

Higher operating costs due to tariffs on replacement parts and maintenance tools increase the overall cost of owning used equipment, making buyers more selective and likely to negotiate harder, which can put downward pressure on resale values. However, tariffs on new tractors have also boosted demand for used tractors, as many farmers turn to the secondary market to avoid higher new equipment prices. This increased demand is causing modest price rises in the used tractor market.

At the same time, supply chain disruptions and higher costs for parts and components have made maintenance more expensive, which can negatively affect the perceived value of used tractors. Dealers face challenges balancing inventory and pricing amid tariff-driven market volatility, influencing resale values as well.

Tariffs create a mixed effect: they raise demand and prices for used tractors due to higher new equipment costs, but increased maintenance expenses and buyer caution can limit resale value growth or put downward pressure on prices.
