Tractor Rotary Cutter Best Practices
Best Practices for Tractor Rotary Cutter Use
A rotary cutter is a powerful tool for taming weeds and overgrown fields.
Begin every job with a careful inspection by making sure blades are sharp, shields are secure, and the PTO shaft is connected correctly. Mount the cutter on your tractor’s three-point hitch and set the cutting height to suit your terrain, starting higher in rough areas and lowering as needed.
Operate at the correct speed, usually with the PTO at 540 RPM. Always drive steadily and keep a lookout for rocks, wire, or stumps that could damage your blades. When you’re finished cutting, lower the deck, disengage the PTO, and shut off the tractor engine before making adjustments or cleaning.
A tidy field and trouble-free operation depend on consistent maintenance and safe practices every time.
