How to Tell if Your Compact Tractor Needs New Tires

Good tractor performance and SAFETY starts with good tires.

If you’re unsure whether it’s time for replacements, here are the main signs to watch for:

  • Worn or Shallow Tread: If the lugs look rounded or the tread depth is below 20–30% of the original height, traction will drop, especially in mud or on slopes.
  • Cracks or Sidewall Damage: Check for dry rot, deep sidewall cracks, bulges, or separation. These issues can lead to sudden failure under load.
  • Frequent Air Loss: A tire that won’t hold pressure, even after repairs, usually has internal damage or aging rubber.
  • Reduced Traction or Stability: If your tractor slips more than usual or feels unstable with a loader, worn tires may be the cause.
  • Old Tire Age: Most compact tractor tires degrade after 6–10 years, even if they still look usable (especially if stored outdoors).

Replacing tires at the right time keeps your tractor safer, more efficient, and ready for heavy work.
