Winter Tire Maintenance
Winter brings tough challenges for tractor tires, including icy roads and cold temperatures that cause pressure to drop, reducing traction and performance.
Proper tire maintenance is crucial to keep the tractor safe and efficient throughout the season.
It’s important to regularly check and adjust tire pressure, as cold weather causes it to decrease. Low pressure can lead to uneven wear and less grip on slippery surfaces. Inspect tires carefully for cracks, cuts, or signs of aging, replacing any damaged tires to maintain traction. For icy and snowy conditions, using tire chains or studs can provide the extra traction needed to operate safely.
Before storing your tractor for the winter, clean the tires thoroughly to remove mud and debris that can speed up wear. During storage, rotate or move the tractor occasionally to prevent flat spots and uneven tread wear. These simple practices will help maximize tire life and ensure your tractor performs well all winter long.
