Best Practices for Using a Tractor Mower

A compact tractor mower can make fast work of large mowing jobs, but safe, efficient operation is key to getting the best results and protecting both operator and equipment.

Here are some tips to keep your mowing experience productive and incident-free...

Survey and clear the mowing area. Walk the ground first, removing rocks, sticks, wire, and toys (anything that could damage blades or become hazardous when thrown).

Mow slopes safely. Drive the tractor up and down slopes, not across, to stay stable and avoid rollovers. If you stop while going uphill, disengage the mower, and back straight down slowly.

Watch for people and animals. Always check behind you before reversing and ensure children, pets, and bystanders are well away from the work area.

Maintain all guards and shields. Never use the mower with damaged or missing shields, especially on the PTO driveline and blades, to prevent injury and equipment damage.

Use your seatbelt with ROPS. Buckle up any time the Roll-Over Protective Structure is in the upright position for maximum protection in the event of a tip over.

Don’t leave the seat with the mower running. Always turn off equipment before dismounting or servicing, and never reach under the mower while it’s running or attached.

Mowing with these compact tractor can help you be safe, efficient, and hassle-free every time.
