If you rely on ethanol-free gasoline for your equipment, proper storage is key to keeping your fuel fresh and your engines running smoothly.

Here’s how to do it correctly:

  • Store your fuel in high-quality, approved containers—metal jerry cans or sturdy plastic fuel cans work best. Always seal them tightly to keep out air and moisture.
  • Keep your fuel in a cool, dry, and dark spot. Avoid direct sunlight and temperature swings, which can speed up fuel breakdown.
  • Even ethanol-free fuel can go stale. Add a fuel stabilizer if you plan to store it for more than a few months. This can keep your gas fresh for up to a year or more.
  • Less air in the container means less risk of condensation and water contamination. Fill your cans as much as safely possible.
  • Mark each container with the storage date. Use the oldest fuel first and regularly rotate your stock to ensure you’re always using the freshest gas.

Following these steps, and you can extend the life of your ethanol-free fuel and keep your engines ready to go when you need them.
